APPLICATION

Causes of wear of rails:
1. Unreasonable curve design
2. Poor maintenance
(a) Uneven alignment
(b) Excessive gauge
(c) Insufficient transition curve superelevation rate reduction distance
(d) Unclean ballast, poor tamping, presence of track defects such as triangular pits, concealed pits, and hanging plates, and track mud pumping defects
3. Incorrect rail positioning
(a) Inappropriate superelevation
(b) Incorrect rail bottom slope

Solutions:
1. Proper adjustment of the outer rail superelevation on curves
2. Regular oil coating
3. Strengthen maintenance and eliminate exceedance
4. Rectify defects in rails and components
5. Select wear-resistant fully quenched rails
6. Swap the use of rails between straight sections and curves
